Bridging Early Childhood Education, Child Development & Holistic Family Sleep
Meet Dr. Monique Sullivan, EdD, an early childhood education professional, child and family wellness consultant, mother of two, and founder of ChildWell™ in Boston, Massachusetts.
For more than 15 years, Monique has dedicated her professional career to children from birth through age five and the families who care for them. Her experience extends across licensed child care and preschool environments, administration, government consulting, policy, operations, and grants management.
Today, she is bringing those many dimensions together through ChildWell, a holistic child and family wellness consultancy operating at the intersection of sleep science, child development, early learning, and family well-being.
As Monique continues expanding her professional education through the International Parenting & Health Institute’s Holistic Pregnancy & Child Sleep Consultant Certification Program, sleep becomes another important piece of an already deeply established whole-child and whole-family perspective.
More Than 15 Years Dedicated to Early Childhood
Long before launching ChildWell, Monique built an extensive career around the earliest and most formative years of children’s lives.
Her professional experience has included work in licensed child care and preschool programs, administration, government consulting, policy, operations, and grants management.
That breadth matters.
Understanding young children involves more than understanding developmental milestones. Children exist within families, educational environments, caregiving systems, communities, and policies that can shape their everyday experiences.
Monique’s career has allowed her to view early childhood from many of those perspectives.
An Extensive Academic Foundation in Early Childhood Education
Monique’s academic journey reflects her long-term commitment to understanding early childhood development and education.
She earned her:
Doctor of Education (EdD), Early Childhood Education
Northcentral University, now part of National University — 2021
Master of Education (MEd), Early Childhood Education
Northcentral University, now part of National University — 2019
Bachelor of Science, Early Childhood Education & Special Education
Ball State University — 2018
Her doctoral research explored the professional-development needs of family child care providers in Massachusetts, further connecting her academic work with the people and systems responsible for supporting young children.
This combination of early childhood education and special education gives Monique a particularly valuable lens for recognizing individual developmental differences rather than approaching every child through the same expectations.
From Early Childhood Professional to Mother
Monique describes becoming a mother as an important turning point in how she understood her professional work.
She is a mother of two young boys and explains that experiencing the realities of a growing family gave her a new perspective on the challenges families encounter.
Those experiences, combined with her professional background, ultimately inspired her to create ChildWell.
It’s a transition many professionals in the IPHI community understand: education provides one lens, while lived experience can introduce another.
For Monique, those perspectives came together around a desire to support not only the developing child, but the entire family surrounding that child.
The Creation of ChildWell™
Monique founded ChildWell™ as a holistic child and family wellness consultancy for families with children from birth through age five.
Its mission is:
“To nurture growth, strengthen families, and build brighter tomorrows—one child, one family, one milestone at a time.”
ChildWell’s services reflect just how multidisciplinary Monique’s approach has become.
The practice includes:
Pediatric Sleep Consulting
Maternal Sleep Consulting
Growth & Developmental Guidance
Child Care, Preschool & Pre-K Consulting
Rather than treating these as unrelated areas, ChildWell brings them together within a larger child-and-family wellness framework.
Bringing Sleep Into the Whole-Child Picture
Sleep is a particularly natural extension of Monique’s existing expertise.
During the first five years of life, families are simultaneously navigating sleep, development, communication, feeding, learning, behavior, routines, caregiving, preschool transitions, family changes, and countless developmental milestones.
These experiences don’t occur in isolation.
Monique’s early childhood background gives her an established framework for understanding the developing child, while her continued professional education in holistic sleep expands the questions she can explore when families are experiencing sleep challenges.
She is currently enrolled in IPHI’s Holistic Pregnancy & Child Sleep Consultant Certification Program, continuing to deepen her understanding of sleep within a holistic, family-centered framework.
Her website also identifies her as a Certified Maternal and Pediatric Sleep Consultant through the International Parenting & Health Institute.
Together, these areas create a distinctive intersection of early childhood development, family systems, maternal and pediatric sleep, education, and family wellness.
Supporting the Professionals Who Support Children
Monique’s expertise isn’t limited to direct family support.
She is also credentialed as a Birth to 5, Infant/Toddler, and Preschool Professional Development Specialist through the Council for Professional Recognition. Her public professional profile indicates that credential is current through 2027.
She additionally holds Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care credentials connected with infant/toddler and preschool teaching and program leadership.
This creates another meaningful dimension to her work.
Supporting children requires supporting parents and caregivers—but it also requires knowledgeable professionals and strong early childhood environments.
Monique’s career has touched all of these areas.
A Whole-Family Vision for the Early Years
What makes Monique’s professional journey particularly aligned with holistic practice is the breadth of the lens she brings to families.
Education.
Development.
Special education.
Early learning environments.
Family systems.
Maternal sleep.
Pediatric sleep.
Each offers a different piece of the larger picture.
ChildWell brings those pieces together around a simple but powerful goal: helping families navigate the early years feeling more confident, supported, and rested.
And as Monique continues expanding her professional education in holistic pregnancy and child sleep, another piece is being added to an already extensive foundation.
