From Burnout to Helping Others Restore Their Sleep

Talia Shapero, Integrative Adult Sleep CoachToday’s Graduate Spotlight celebrates Talia Shapero, an Integrative Adult Sleep Coach based in Toronto, Canada, whose own journey through insomnia and burnout inspired a career dedicated to helping adults rediscover restorative sleep.

When Personal Experience Becomes Purpose

For many years, Talia didn’t consider herself a good sleeper.

She struggled with falling asleep, staying asleep, and waking feeling truly refreshed. Like many adults, she learned to simply live with poor sleep.

After the birth of her son, those challenges intensified.

Balancing motherhood while growing a business left her exhausted, overwhelmed, and struggling to keep pace with both her personal and professional responsibilities. Eventually, years of chronic sleep deprivation contributed to burnout.

Seeking professional support became a turning point.

As she began addressing her insomnia through education, lifestyle changes, and behavioral strategies, she experienced firsthand how profoundly healthy sleep could transform nearly every aspect of life from parenting and relationships to physical health, emotional well-being, and professional performance.

Expanding Her Knowledge

Inspired by her own experience, Talia chose to deepen her knowledge by completing the Integrative Adult Sleep Coach Certification through the International Parenting & Health Institute.

There, she expanded her understanding of the many interconnected factors that influence healthy sleep, including lifestyle habits, stress, circadian rhythms, nervous system regulation, and individualized sleep coaching.

She has also completed professional training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and is a member of the Association of Professional Sleep Consultants, reflecting her commitment to ongoing professional development.

An Educator at Heart

Before becoming a sleep coach, Talia spent more than 15 years working as a teacher and educator, helping others learn, grow, and reach their potential.

Today, she brings that same educational approach to sleep coaching, empowering adults with practical knowledge and personalized strategies that support sustainable, long-term improvements in sleep.

Rather than relying on one-size-fits-all solutions, Talia works collaboratively with clients to understand the unique factors influencing their sleep and develop individualized plans that fit their lives.

Helping Adults Restore Their Sleep and Their Lives

Through her Toronto-based practice, Talia helps adults improve not only their sleep but also their overall quality of life.

Her philosophy reflects one of the core principles emphasized throughout IPHI’s educational approach:

Better sleep has the power to positively influence every area of our lives.

By combining evidence-informed education with compassionate, individualized coaching, Talia helps clients build healthier habits, restore confidence in their ability to sleep, and move toward lasting, restorative rest.
