Bridging 30+ Years of Healthcare Experience, Gentle Sleep Support & Global Sleep Education
Meet Julie Mallon, UK-qualified nurse, midwife and health visitor, internationally recognized sleep expert, founder of Nurture2Sleep, author, podcast host, international speaker, and graduate of the International Parenting & Health Institute’s Holistic Pregnancy & Child Sleep Consultant Certification Program.
Based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Julie brings more than 30 years of healthcare experience to a career that has evolved from nursing, midwifery and community health into sleep education and support for babies, children, adults, families and organizations.
Since founding Nurture2Sleep in 2014, Julie has grown her work from a family sleep consultancy into a global sleep and wellbeing platform encompassing individual sleep support, parent education, adult sleep, corporate wellbeing, international speaking, media, hospitality consulting, podcasting and children’s education.
Her journey is an exceptional example of what can happen when extensive clinical experience meets continued professional education, entrepreneurship and a commitment to helping people understand sleep more deeply.
From Nursing & Midwifery to Sleep
Long before Julie became known for sleep, her professional foundation was healthcare.
Julie trained in the United Kingdom as a nurse, midwife and health visitor, building more than three decades of experience across hospital, community and private-sector settings. Her LinkedIn history includes work as a Community Staff Nurse and five years as a Health Visitor with Wycombe Primary Care Trust before her career expanded into family and sleep support in the Middle East.
That background gave Julie an unusually broad perspective from which to enter the sleep field.
As a nurse, she understood health.
As a midwife, she understood pregnancy, birth, babies and new families.
As a health visitor, she worked within the realities of family life and child development.
Sleep became another important piece of that picture.
Expanding Her Professional Education Into Sleep
Julie studied with the organization then known as the International Maternity & Parenting Institute, now the International Parenting & Health Institute, during 2013–2014. Her own professional materials continue to identify that training as part of her sleep-consultant education.
As a graduate of IPHI’s Holistic Pregnancy & Child Sleep Consultant Certification Program, Julie added specialized sleep education to an already extensive clinical foundation.
She later expanded her sleep education further and today also identifies as a Certified Gentle Sleep Coach. Her current professional philosophy emphasizes compassionate, individualized, evidence-informed support rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Her career demonstrates an important principle of professional development:
One certification doesn’t have to be the end of an education. It can become part of an evolving body of knowledge built over an entire career.
Founding Nurture2Sleep
In 2014, Julie founded Nurture2Sleep in Dubai.
Her LinkedIn describes the original mission simply: to support, encourage and empower families throughout their parenting journey. It also emphasizes listening to parental intuition, recognizing children’s cues and behaviors, and creating gentle changes that support connection and family wellbeing.
More than a decade later, that original practice has expanded considerably.
Today, Nurture2Sleep provides compassionate, evidence-based sleep support for babies, children, families and adults, both in Dubai and internationally. Its current services range from one-to-one family consultations to adult sleep programs, workplace wellbeing initiatives and community education.
Julie also leads a growing professional team.
What began as a sleep consultancy has become a much broader platform for sleep education and wellbeing.
Sleep Coaching, Not Simply Sleep Training
One of the clearest themes within Julie’s current work is respect for the individual child and family.
Nurture2Sleep explicitly rejects a “cry it out” philosophy and emphasizes compassionate coaching, emotional security, development and individualized support.
Julie summarizes an important distinction within her philosophy this way:
“Our work at Nurture 2 Sleep is sleep coaching, not training.”
Her approach considers sleep within the context of the child’s development, temperament, emotions, relationships, environment and everyday experiences.
That broader perspective also connects naturally with the holistic foundation of Julie’s earlier IPHI education.
From Children & Families to Adult Sleep
Julie’s work has also expanded beyond pediatric sleep.
Nurture2Sleep now offers dedicated adult sleep support, addressing concerns including insomnia, stress, anxiety and disrupted sleep through individualized programs.
Her adult work considers lifestyle, stress, health, nutrition and daily routines among the factors that may influence sleep and combines her decades of healthcare experience with sleep science, behavioral change and practical coaching.
That expansion is significant.
Julie’s professional journey now spans sleep across the lifespan, from babies and children to parents, adults and workplaces.
Taking Sleep Education Beyond the Consultation Room
Perhaps one of the most remarkable aspects of Julie’s career is how far she has taken sleep education beyond individual client work.
She has become a recognized voice on sleep health throughout the Middle East and internationally.
Her current professional biography identifies her as the Resident Sleep Expert on Dubai Eye 103.8 FM, where she regularly contributes to conversations about sleep. Her work has also appeared in publications including Vogue Arabia, The National, Harper’s BAZAAR Arabia, Gulf News and SheerLuxe Middle East.
Julie has presented internationally at events including the US Sleep Symposium, Children’s Mental Health Symposium in Ireland, Leadership School in Armenia and Baby Expo Middle East.
Her media kit also documents her contribution to a Global Wellness Institute white paper on sleep and her role on the judging panel for the MEED Daman Corporate Health and Wellness Visionary 2019 Award.
From supporting an individual exhausted family to speaking to an international audience, Julie has continued expanding the reach of sleep education.
Bringing Sleep Into the Workplace & Hospitality
Julie’s work now reaches corporations and international brands as well.
Nurture2Sleep documents collaborations involving sleep and wellbeing education with organizations including Bloomberg, Dentons, VIWELL and others, as well as consulting with luxury hospitality brands including Mandarin Oriental around sleep and guest wellbeing.
She has also collaborated on sleep-focused nursery design and delivered corporate sleep and wellbeing education.
This is another meaningful evolution of her career.
Sleep isn’t only a parenting issue.
It affects health, emotional wellbeing, productivity, decision-making, performance and quality of life.
Julie’s work increasingly brings that conversation into the places where people live, work, travel and lead.
Sleepless in Dubai
Julie is also the co-host, alongside Laura Buckwell, of Sleepless in Dubai, a podcast exploring the intersection of sleep, wellbeing and modern life.
Across two seasons, Julie has brought together guests from healthcare, education, business, hospitality and entertainment to discuss not simply how people sleep, but the physical, emotional, professional, relational and lifestyle factors that influence rest and performance.
It’s another example of Julie transforming sleep education from something discussed privately behind a consultation-room door into a broader public conversation.
Author of Where Is Blue Bird?
Julie’s commitment to early childhood development also led her into publishing.
Together with Raya Halet, Julie co-authored Where Is Blue Bird?, an evidence-based children’s book designed to support early childhood development, sound sleep and secure parent-child attachment.
The book explores early brain development and the role parents’ interactions can play in supporting babies as they grow.
Once again, the project reflects a theme that has remained consistent throughout Julie’s career:
Sleep isn’t just about sleep.
It exists within development, relationships, emotional security, health and family wellbeing.
More Than 30 Years of Experience and Still Expanding
What makes Julie’s professional journey particularly noteworthy isn’t simply the length of her résumé.
It’s the evolution within it.

An Inspiration in Global Sleep Education
Julie’s story is an extraordinary example of how professional education can grow into impact far beyond its original starting point.
From nursing, midwifery and health visiting in the UK to becoming an IPHI sleep graduate, founding Nurture2Sleep in Dubai and ultimately educating families, adults, organizations and audiences around the world, Julie has spent decades building upon her knowledge.
Her journey also reflects something we value deeply within the IPHI graduate community:
Continued learning.
A professional’s education doesn’t have to end with one certification, one methodology or one area of practice.
The strongest careers often evolve through experience, additional training, research, collaboration and an ongoing willingness to learn.
Today, Julie’s work reaches far beyond the families she originally set out to support in 2014.
But the thread connecting those decades remains remarkably consistent:
helping people and families experience healthier lives through greater understanding, compassionate support and better sleep.
💙 Congratulations, Julie!
We are proud to recognize your extraordinary professional journey and the impact you continue making in sleep health and education as part of the International Parenting & Health Institute’s global graduate community.
