Bridging Medicine, Homeopathy & Holistic Sleep Across the Family Lifespan
Meet Dr. Ana Sofía Pinzón Perdomo, a physician, homeopathic medicine professional, Holistic Pregnancy & Child Sleep Consultant, Eco Consultant, educator, mother, and longtime member of the International Parenting & Health Institute professional community.
Based in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico, Ana Sofía currently practices at Grupo Althea, where its medical directory identifies her practice areas as General Medicine and Homeopathy.
But Ana Sofía’s professional journey reaches considerably beyond conventional medical practice.
Over the years, she has pursued education with IPHI across multiple complementary disciplines, including Baby Planning, Eco Consulting, Integrative Adult Sleep, Pre- and Postnatal Nutrition, and Holistic Pregnancy & Child Sleep.
Most significantly, Ana Sofía is a graduate of IPHI’s Holistic Pregnancy & Child Sleep Consultant Certification Program and has shared her expertise with the next generation of professionals as IPHI’s former Spanish-language instructor.
Her professional path demonstrates what integrative education can look like when medicine, sleep, nutrition, environmental wellness, pregnancy, parenting, and family health are considered as interconnected parts of a larger picture.
From Medicine to Integrative Health
Ana Sofía was born in Panama and is Mexican. She trained as a general medical physician at Universidad Latinoamericana before continuing her studies in homeopathy at Colegio de Homeopatía de México A.C.
Her interest in homeopathy grew from a desire to practice medicine through a more integrative lens.
Today, that combination remains visible in her clinical work. Grupo Althea lists Ana Sofía as a physician practicing both General Medicine and Homeopathy in Cuernavaca.
Her professional interests have also included preventive medicine and educating individuals about ways to support their health before challenges become more significant.
That foundation would eventually intersect with another area that became deeply personal to her:
sleep.
When Motherhood Changed Her Understanding of Sleep
Ana Sofía’s interest in child sleep didn’t originate solely from professional curiosity.
It began at home.
After the birth of her first child, she experienced firsthand the exhaustion and emotional strain that can accompany persistent family sleep challenges.
Despite being a healthcare professional, Ana Sofía realized she didn’t yet possess the specialized knowledge she needed to understand and address what her own family was experiencing.
That realization became transformative.
Rather than viewing sleep simply as another symptom or isolated behavior, she began exploring the broader science and dynamics surrounding pregnancy, infant and child sleep.
Eventually, that search brought her to the International Parenting & Health Institute.
Becoming a Holistic Pregnancy & Child Sleep Consultant
Ana Sofía completed IPHI’s Holistic Pregnancy & Child Sleep Consultant Certification Program, which approaches sleep through IPHI’s holistic, non-sleep-training framework.
The program examines the many interconnected influences that may affect sleep, including physical, emotional, developmental, nutritional, environmental, social and family factors.
For a physician already interested in integrative medicine, this broader framework provided a natural extension of Ana Sofía’s professional philosophy.
Sleep could now be considered alongside the child’s health, development, family environment, caregiver well-being, nutrition and lifestyle rather than being separated from them.
And her education with IPHI didn’t stop there.
Building a Multidisciplinary Foundation
Over the course of her professional relationship with IPHI, Ana Sofía has participated in education spanning several areas:
Baby Planning
Eco Consulting
Integrative Adult Sleep
Pre- and Postnatal Nutrition
Holistic Pregnancy & Child Sleep
Her Eco Consultant and Holistic Pregnancy & Child Sleep credentials are also reflected in IPHI’s professional directory.
Together, these areas create an unusually comprehensive perspective.
Pregnancy preparation can affect postpartum adjustment.
Nutrition can intersect with health and sleep.
Environmental factors can influence family wellness.
Parent sleep and child sleep can affect one another.
And physical and emotional well-being don’t suddenly become separate simply because an individual moves from one stage of life into another.
Ana Sofía’s educational path reflects an understanding of these connections across the family lifespan.
From IPHI Student to Spanish-Language Instructor
Ana Sofía’s relationship with IPHI eventually evolved from student and graduate to educator.
She became a Spanish-language instructor for IPHI’s Pregnancy & Child Sleep Consultant Certification Program, helping make specialized holistic sleep education more accessible to Spanish-speaking professionals.
In 2022, IPHI publicly announced its partnership with Ana Sofía to expand professional certification education for Spanish-speaking parenting and health professionals. At that time, she was identified as the program’s lead instructor.
This represents an especially meaningful part of her professional story.
Education doesn’t end when someone receives a certification.
Sometimes the graduate becomes the educator.
And through teaching, one professional’s knowledge can ultimately reach many more professionals, families, communities and countries.
Bringing Holistic Sleep Into Medical Practice
Today, Ana Sofía continues practicing medicine in Mexico while bringing a broader understanding of sleep and integrative wellness into her professional identity.
Grupo Althea publicly introduces her as “Médico General Homeópata y especialista en sueño”—a general physician, homeopathic practitioner and sleep specialist, while its medical directory lists her under General Medicine and Homeopathy.
Her work represents a valuable intersection:
Medicine + Homeopathy + Sleep + Nutrition + Environmental Wellness + Family Health
Rather than existing as competing disciplines, these areas can provide different perspectives from which a professional can ask questions, recognize when another professional’s expertise is needed, and support individuals and families within an appropriate scope of practice.
A Professional Journey Built Around Continued Learning
Ana Sofía’s story also illustrates something central to IPHI’s philosophy of professional development:
Expertise isn’t necessarily about choosing one subject and never moving beyond it.
Sometimes professional growth comes from understanding how different disciplines connect.
Ana Sofía began with medicine.
She expanded into homeopathy and integrative health.
Motherhood introduced her personally to the complexities of family sleep.
Sleep education expanded into pregnancy and child sleep.
Her continued IPHI education reached environmental health, baby planning, adult sleep and pre- and postnatal nutrition.
And eventually, she became an instructor herself.
That is a professional journey defined not by one credential, but by continued curiosity and multidisciplinary learning.
