Expanding From Infant & Family Sleep to Integrative Adult Sleep and Whole-Family Wellbeing
Meet Bechira Moussa, sleep professional, maternal wellness educator, founder of La Nana Coach, mother of Miguel and Valeria, and graduate of the International Parenting & Health Institute’s Integrative Adult Sleep Coach Certification Program.
Bechira’s professional journey began not in sleep, but in her own experience of motherhood.
After coming from the corporate world, the birth of her first child, Miguel, introduced Bechira to something countless parents understand intimately: the profound effect disrupted sleep can have on everyday life.
Months into motherhood, she describes feeling exhausted and irritable and realizing she was no longer enjoying the experience she had once dreamed about. That realization became a turning point.
What began as a personal search for answers eventually became a new profession.
Today, Bechira’s journey has evolved again, from helping babies and families establish healthier sleep patterns to expanding her professional education into integrative adult sleep.
And in many ways, it brings her story full circle.
Because when a baby isn’t sleeping, the baby is rarely the only person whose sleep is affected.
When Motherhood Changed the Direction of Her Career
Bechira had always dreamed of becoming a mother.
But after Miguel arrived, the reality of motherhood included something she hadn’t anticipated: prolonged exhaustion.
Although she had a loving support system of grandparents, relatives and friends, months of disrupted sleep began taking their toll. Bechira recalls reaching a point when she felt she could no longer continue as she had been.
She began examining routines, habits, boundaries and her own wellbeing.
As the family’s sleep changed, something else changed too.
Bechira felt that she began reclaiming pieces of herself—her energy, relationship, personal time and ability to enjoy motherhood. She credits that experience with eventually leading her into the work she does today.
Her son became, in her words, her teacher.
And sleep became a new professional calling.
From the Corporate World to Sleep Education
Bechira’s curiosity about sleep continued growing.
Public reporting on the beginnings of La Nana Coach describes Bechira and her original business partner, Camila Vélez, experiencing similar questions after becoming mothers around the same period. They eventually traveled to the United States for professional sleep education before leaving the corporate world and building La Nana Coach.
Since then, Bechira has become an established Spanish-speaking voice in infant and child sleep.
Her expertise has been featured in parenting and media outlets, including coverage addressing infant naps, developmental sleep changes and healthy sleep habits. She has also contributed as an expert to academic work examining sleep-related topics in young children.
Building La Nana Coach
Today, La Nana Coach centers its work around helping families create healthier sleep habits while supporting a more conscious experience of motherhood.
Bechira’s website describes her purpose as helping families “sintonizar los sueños de todos”, bringing everyone’s sleep into greater harmony, while helping mothers enjoy motherhood rather than simply survive it.
That philosophy is visible throughout her current services.
Through personalized consultations, Bechira accompanies families through their sleep process while working toward individualized goals. Her courses and educational resources address topics including newborn sleep, the four-month developmental transition, naps, early rising, vacations and sleep habits from infancy into toddlerhood.
Her website repeatedly connects sleep with both physical and mental wellbeing for children and parents.
A Respectful Approach to Family Sleep
Another important theme within Bechira’s public work is the relationship between healthy structure and responsive parenting.
Her website emphasizes healthy habits, routines and boundaries while testimonials prominently describe an approach experienced by families as respectful and loving. One parent specifically describes learning without leaving her child to cry, while another discusses finding an approach that allowed her to accompany her child while establishing firmer boundaries around rest.
This reflects a broader theme in Bechira’s philosophy:
Balance.
On her About page, Bechira describes herself as someone who doesn’t like extremes and instead seeks equilibrium.
That idea extends beyond children’s sleep.
And it helps explain why the next chapter of her professional education is especially meaningful.
Expanding Into Integrative Adult Sleep
After years of working within infant, child and family sleep, Bechira expanded her professional education through the International Parenting & Health Institute’s Integrative Adult Sleep Coach Certification Program.
This represents an important evolution in her professional journey.
Her earliest experience with sleep began because her baby’s sleep was affecting her own wellbeing.
Years later, studying adult sleep allowed her to expand the lens beyond the child and consider sleep across a much wider range of life circumstances.
Adult sleep can involve a complex interplay of factors—including lifestyle, stress, environment, nutrition, circadian rhythms, physical health, emotional wellbeing and everyday habits.
IPHI’s integrative approach encourages professionals to investigate those multiple influences rather than viewing sleep as an isolated behavior.
For Bechira, that broader education complements more than a decade spent observing firsthand how deeply sleep can affect the entire family.
From the Child to the Whole Family
This is perhaps the most compelling part of Bechira’s story.
Her work began with a child.
But the consequences of sleep were never limited to the child.
Bechira’s own story describes what happened when she became exhausted: her mood changed, motherhood became harder to enjoy, and she needed to rediscover her own wellbeing.
That experience illustrates something fundamental about family sleep:
Sleep happens individually, but its effects can ripple through relationships and households.
A child’s disrupted sleep may affect parents.
A parent’s stress and exhaustion may influence the experience of family life.
Work schedules, routines, health, environment and lifestyle can all become part of the larger picture.
By adding integrative adult sleep education to her established pediatric sleep background, Bechira has expanded the range through which she can understand that picture.
Bringing Sleep Into Workplace Wellbeing
There are also signs that Bechira’s expertise is already moving beyond traditional parenting education.
Recent professional coverage identifies her as the sleep expert selected for a corporate mental-health and wellbeing initiative focused on three fundamental habits: sleep, nutrition and movement.
That’s an especially interesting direction in light of her Integrative Adult Sleep Coach education.
It moves the sleep conversation from nurseries and family homes into another environment where sleep matters enormously:
the workplace.
Sleep influences far more than whether someone feels tired.
It intersects with wellbeing, daily functioning, habits, stress and how people experience their lives.
For a professional whose career began in infant sleep, expanding into adult and workplace sleep education represents a significant evolution.
Education Beyond the Consultation
Bechira’s work has also grown beyond individual consultations.
La Nana Coach currently offers structured educational programs and shorter sleep courses covering specific developmental stages and challenges.
Families can access education on newborn sleep from a preventive perspective, sleep habits from approximately five months through two years, the four-month sleep transition, restorative naps, early waking, independent sleep onset and managing sleep during vacations.
Her public educational work has also extended into outside parenting platforms. Gestar con Amor, for example, identifies Bechira as its sleep coach/infant sleep mentor and incorporates her recommendations into family sleep education.
This combination of consultation, courses, media and broader education has allowed Bechira to take knowledge originally gained through her own motherhood experience and make it accessible to many more families.
Motherhood Remains at the Center
Despite the professional growth, Bechira’s personal story remains central to La Nana Coach.
She describes herself first as a mother.
Miguel and Valeria remain at the heart of the story she tells about her work, and she credits her family as her motivation, inspiration and home.
That connection matters because Bechira’s work was born from lived experience.
She knows what it feels like to love motherhood while simultaneously feeling depleted by it.
She knows what it means to need help.
And she knows what can happen when healthier sleep becomes part of reclaiming wellbeing.
What began with Miguel ultimately became a profession.
And today, that profession is expanding once again.

From One Exhausted Mother to a Broader Sleep Mission
There is something beautifully circular about Bechira’s professional journey.
She discovered sleep because she was an exhausted mother searching for a better way forward.
She learned.
Her family’s experience changed.
She left the corporate world.
She began helping other parents.
She built La Nana Coach.
She became an educator and recognized voice in infant sleep.
And eventually, she returned to another part of the equation:
the adult who needs sleep, too.
Her graduation from IPHI’s Integrative Adult Sleep Coach Certification Program represents more than another credential.
It expands a professional journey that began with one baby into a broader understanding of sleep across adulthood, parenting, family wellbeing and daily life.
