Bringing an Evolutionary Perspective to Family Sleep in Estonia
One of the most inspiring aspects of the International Parenting & Health Institute (IPHI) community is seeing graduates introduce new perspectives that help transform how families understand sleep within their own countries.
Today’s Graduate Spotlight celebrates Anette Ariana Parnits, founder of Stone Age Sleep, author, educator, lecturer, dentist, and the first professional from Estonia to complete the International Parenting & Health Institute’s Holistic Pregnancy & Child Sleep Consultant Certification.
Her journey demonstrates how curiosity, lifelong learning, and a multidisciplinary approach can create meaningful change, not only for individual families, but also for healthcare professionals and communities.
When Curiosity Leads to Innovation
Like many parents, Anette’s own children’s sleep challenges inspired her to begin asking deeper questions.
Rather than accepting that difficult sleep was simply something families had to endure or that one approach worked for every child, she immersed herself in learning about child development, biology, nutrition, circadian rhythms, the microbiome, and the many lifestyle factors that influence healthy sleep.
Her exploration eventually led her to the International Parenting & Health Institute, where she chose to further expand her professional education through the Holistic Pregnancy & Child Sleep Consultant Certification and later continued advancing her education through the Integrative Adult Sleep Coach Certification.
The multidisciplinary philosophy complemented her growing interest in understanding sleep through a broader biological, developmental, and evolutionary perspective.
Creating Stone Age Sleep
Inspired by both her healthcare background and her passion for understanding children’s sleep through an evolutionary lens, Anette founded Stone Age Sleep.
Her work encourages families to look beyond bedtime routines alone and instead consider how biology, lifestyle, environment, child development, nutrition, circadian rhythms, and parental expectations all contribute to healthy sleep.
She believes that supporting children’s sleep begins with understanding their biological needs while helping parents reconnect with their own instincts and confidence.
Educating Families and Healthcare Professionals
Today, Anette has become one of Estonia’s leading voices in holistic sleep education.
She is the author of 7 Steps to Baby’s Better Sleep: Befriend the Microbiome and the Circadian Rhythm, a book that has helped more than 1,000 families throughout Estonia.
She has appeared on podcasts, written educational articles, presented seminars for companies, general practitioners, and midwives, supervised academic research, and delivered lectures within hospital settings on infant sleep, digestion, and child development.
Her mission extends beyond helping individual families. She is equally passionate about increasing awareness among healthcare professionals of the important role sleep plays in children’s development, health, and overall well-being.
Building Bridges Between Dentistry, Sleep, and Family Health
Anette’s background in dentistry brings another valuable dimension to her work.
Her medical education, combined with continued professional learning in sleep, child development, psychology, breastfeeding, nutrition, and holistic family wellness, allows her to approach each family from a truly multidisciplinary perspective.
Her journey demonstrates how professionals can integrate expertise from multiple disciplines to better understand the complex factors influencing children’s sleep and overall health.
A Pioneer for Holistic Sleep Education in Estonia
As IPHI’s first graduate from Estonia, Anette has helped introduce holistic, multidisciplinary sleep education to families and healthcare professionals throughout her country.
Her work demonstrates how one professional’s commitment to lifelong learning can positively influence not only the families she serves, but also the broader conversation surrounding child sleep, health, parenting, and preventive wellness.
She is an inspiring example of how education, compassion, and professional curiosity can create lasting impact within an emerging field.
