From Athlete to Helping Adults Rediscover Great Sleep
One of the greatest strengths of the International Parenting & Health Institute (IPHI) community is seeing our graduates transform personal experience into meaningful professional purpose.
Today’s Graduate Spotlight celebrates Amy Roebuck, founder of The Good Sleep Method, an Integrative Adult Sleep Coach based in the United Kingdom who helps adults improve their sleep through a holistic, root-cause approach.
When Great Sleep Suddenly Changes
For much of her life, Amy considered herself a “good sleeper.”
Growing up as a championship-level figure skater and later becoming a skating coach, she experienced firsthand how healthy sleep supported performance, recovery, and overall well-being.
Then life changed.
Like many parents, the arrival of her son disrupted the routines she had always relied upon. Although working with a child sleep consultant helped her son become a wonderful sleeper, Amy unexpectedly developed chronic insomnia herself.
Despite her son’s healthy sleep habits, Amy found herself facing persistent middle-of-the-night awakenings and early morning waking that wouldn’t resolve.
Rather than accepting poor sleep as her new normal, she began a journey of research, education, and self-discovery.
That journey ultimately became the foundation of her career.
Discovering a Holistic Perspective
Seeking a broader understanding of adult sleep led Amy to complete the Integrative Adult Sleep Coach Certification through the International Parenting & Health Institute.
There she expanded her understanding of the many interconnected factors that influence sleep, including lifestyle habits, stress, circadian rhythms, health, menopause, pregnancy, emotional well-being, and nervous system regulation.
Today, Amy combines evidence-informed sleep education with compassionate coaching to help adults understand why they aren’t sleeping—not simply how to manage symptoms.
The Good Sleep Method
Amy founded The Good Sleep Method to help adults build sustainable sleep habits that improve both health and quality of life.
Her work emphasizes that meaningful improvements often come from understanding the whole person rather than searching for quick fixes.
In addition to her IPHI certification, Amy has continued expanding her expertise through professional development in areas including:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Sleep during menopause
- Sleep during pregnancy
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
She is also a member of the Association of Professional Sleep Consultants and the British Sleep Society, reflecting her ongoing commitment to evidence-informed practice and lifelong learning.
Helping Adults Sleep Better
Today, Amy supports adults and teenagers throughout the United Kingdom through individualized sleep coaching designed to identify the underlying contributors to poor sleep.
Her philosophy closely reflects one of the core principles emphasized throughout IPHI’s educational approach:
There is no single solution for every sleeper.
Understanding each person’s unique circumstances often provides the key to lasting, restorative sleep.
